Lynch-Bages drunk by…
In the late 80s, Jean-Michel Cazes was looking for an original advertising theme reflecting the complexity, finesse and elegance of the Château Lynch-Bages wines. Thanks to Bruno Pons, President of Ateliers ABC, equally, passionate about contemporary art, he met Pierre Alechinsky whom he asked to illustrate the magnificent 1989 vintage. This is how "Lynch-Bages bu par… Alechinsky" was born.
Since then and every year, an artist has created an original work for Lynch-Bages, thereby providing the basis for a new advertising campaign.
Over the years, Jean-Michel Cazes has also built up an exceptional collection of works dedicated to Lynch-Bages. Some of the great artists who have contributed to the Château in succession: Jean Le Gac, Manuel Arroyo, Sandro Chia, Titus Carmel, Donald Lipski, Jiri Kolar, Donald Sultan, Lourdes Castro, Tan Swie Hian, etc... all expressing in their unique way, their encounter with wine.
In 1998, in cooperation with the Mécénart association, Lynch-Bages exhibited a selection of works from the Fondation Cartier. This was followed by the presentation in the property’s old vat room of series of works selected and compiled by the artists themselves.
Every summer at Lynch-Bages, visitors have the opportunity to discover or rediscover a great contemporary artist. The artworks are exhibited in the estate's former vat room which dates back to the 19th century. The whitewashed walls make an excellent show-room for large-scale works.
